Chavez Phelps, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services at Georgia State University. Before entering academia, Dr. Phelps was a school psychologist and administrator in New Orleans, Louisiana. He also worked with the Louisiana Public Health Institute to ensure youth had access to quality community behavioral health services. He is a licensed psychologist and a sought-after presenter for a variety of topics including crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive practices.
